Studio Aurora, based in the vibrant heart of Dubai, is a leading boutique lighting design consultancy. Committed to crafting unique narratives through illumination, Studio Aurora is dedicated to shaping unforgettable experiences for clients around the world.
We are on the lookout for an enthusiastic and imaginative Junior Lighting Designer to join our dynamic team.
As a Junior Lighting Designer, you will assist in the conceptualization, design development, documentation, and visualization of lighting solutions for a range of architectural and design typologies.
This role is perfect for recent graduates or early-career designers eager to grow in a dynamic, collaborative, and design-oriented setting.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design Support
- Participate in the creation of innovative lighting concepts and strategies, mood boards and presentation materials that align with project objectives and client expectations.
- Collaborate on design studies using sketches, diagrams, and visualizations.
- Conduct lighting research including fixture selection, lighting strategies, and sustainability considerations.
2. Technical Documentation
- Work alongside senior lighting designers to develop detailed lighting layouts, details, and schedules.
- Assist in producing lighting calculations and simulations using software such as DIALux to optimize lighting designs for efficiency.
- Work alongside senior lighting designers to maintain fixture databases and coordinate with manufacturers for specifications and samples.
3. Project Collaboration
- Work closely with senior designers and project leads to deliver high-quality design packages.
- Support coordination with architects, interior designers, engineers, and clients.
- Participate in team meetings, design critiques, and site visits when applicable.
4. Learning & Development
- Stay up to date with industry trends, innovations, sustainable practises, and best practices in lighting design to contribute innovative ideas to projects.
- Attend internal training, webinars, and industry events as part of ongoing professional development.
We'd love to hear from you if you have skills in:
- Bachelor's degree in, Architecture, Interior Design, Lighting Design or a related field.
- Specialized coursework or certification in lighting design is a plus.
- Genuine enthusiasm for lighting design and a strong desire to grow in the field.
- Strong aesthetic sensibility and understanding of spatial design.
- Proficiency in lighting design software (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, Lumion, Dialux, AutoCAD and Revit knowledge).
- Excellent communication, organizational and teamwork skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
